For any organisation in the business of delivering key services to the community, it is critical to maintain an external perspective so that those services are not just effectively meeting the needs of that community, but anticipating them.

Such a perspective is the difference between being responsive and being reactive. Being responsive to need is the principle on which Nurse Maude was founded, and which remains at the work of its work today.
