The Foundation
When the Nurse Maude Foundation first came into being 18 years ago it had, as
its founding principle, the ability to generate income to support the vision of
continual improvement in community healthcare.
This it has done, providing much needed additional financial support to
ensure the continuity and quality of Nurse Maude’s work.
Its support of the hospice and palliative care and the New Zealand Institute
of Community Healthcare are just two examples of its contribution toward that
vision.
In supporting the development of initiatives specifically designed to meet
the changing and complex healthcare needs of our community, the Nurse Maude
Foundation has, in turn, been able to support Nurse Maude’s vision – to lead the
way in community care.
In addition the Foundation also supports the Patient Welfare Fund, for the
direct benefit of clients who are unable to afford essential items required for
their ongoing health needs, and provides the Nurse Maude Campbell Ballantyne
Fellowship, a grant of up to $30,000 each year in support of research which
benefits community health services.
To initiate and support projects is, of course, one thing. To continue
supporting it relies on the generosity of those who believe that quality
community healthcare should be both accessible and affordable by all who need
it.
The Foundation relies on legacies to contribute to opportunities that will
directly benefit our community.
"If you feel able to support that work in your will please contact us. In doing so, know that you can leave no greater legacy than one
which is dedicated to caring for the most vulnerable in our community. Our
thanks, as always, go to those who have done so in the past. The result of their
generosity can be seen in our work here every day, and for that we are most
grateful."
