Family Support (Counselling)
The Family Support (Counselling) Service provides a confidential, neutral and
non-judgmental person to talk for those diagnosed with a serious illness or
dealing with a loved one becoming seriously ill or dying.
Nurse Maude's qualified counsellors can provide information, reassurance,
resources and strategies to help cope with grief and loss and, if necessary,
refer clients to other health providers.
Counsellors are supported by a team of volunteers who are experienced in providing
telephone and face-to-face support.
The service is available to anyone who needs counselling and support
for grief, loss and bereavement.
Support and counselling is provided on a one-to-one basis, in a family or
group session at the client's home, at Nurse Maude or another venue and on-going
support is provided by telephone to offer advice or information.
Services of Remembrance are held several times a year, with families invited
to attend nine to twelve months after the death of a loved one known to Nurse Maude services.
The Family Support (Counselling) service is free of charge for clients who
meet the criteria.
