Continence Advisory Service
Nurse Maude’s Continence Advisory Service provides confidential support,
assessment, treatment, education and continence products for anyone more than
four years of age who has difficulty getting to the toilet on time, makes
frequent visits to the toilet, day or night, has bladder leakage when coughing,
sneezing or exercising or bowel leakage or other bowel problems.
The service can also offer advice and information about catheter management,
liaise with other health professionals and agencies, and provide information and
education for the community and health professionals.
Consultations are with a continence advisor, who is a registered nurse or
physiotherapist with further training in the specialist area of continence
management.
The service can accessed directly by the clients, or their families/whanau,
doctor, surgeon or hospital.
Clients living in the Canterbury area do not have to pay for their
consultation or treatment. Continence supplies are partially subsidised however,
there will be a charge if clients choose to have supplies sent to them by
courier.
