People who have, or are expecting to require a stoma, which is a surgically
created opening in the abdomen for evacuation of body waste, are able to receive
education and support before and after surgery. Stomas include colostomy,

The aim of Stomal Therapy is to provide clients and their families/whanau and
carers with the resources to live with a stoma independently, comfortably and
with dignity.
The service includes visits in hospital and at home after discharge,
arranging for ostomy equipment, clinics for regular checks and assessments,
access to other health professionals and agencies and prescription of ostomy
appliances.
Clients or their families/whanau, doctors, surgeons or hospitals can all
