Wound Management Service
(Incorporating the Leg Ulcer Clinic)
Nurse Maude’s Wound Management Service is for those who require specialist
assessment of their wounds as well as those who have, or are at risk of
developing, leg ulcers.
The service provides specialist wound care clinics where nurses can assess,
manage and advise on chronic or complex wounds or leg ulcers, providing care
plans and follow-up programmes aimed at preventing wounds, including compression
hosiery for leg ulcers.
Clients are referred by their GP, Practice Nurse, District Nurse, hospital or
specialist, or may contact the Wound Management Service themselves.
The Wound Management Service will be able to advise if charges for the
service will be covered by ACC or the Canterbury District Health Board, or need
to be paid by the client.
The service also provides consultation and advice on wound management to
GP's, community and practice nurses, rest homes and private hospitals.
