Community Nursing
While the principles and values are the same, nursing has been transformed by continual advances in training, research, and technology.
Nurse Maude provides community nursing for anyone who needs care so, wherever possible, they can remain in their own home, rather than enter a hospital or residential care, or to support them in returning to their own home or community after receiving hospital care.
Our Community Nursing team of Registered Nurses provides clinical assessment and care, while our highly skilled team of Enrolled Nurses and Health Care Assistants provide ongoing care and support. Our Liaison Nurses assists with discharge and transition planning from hospital back to the client's home.
Working with clients to decide a plan, the Community Nursing Team provides clinical care including IV therapy, wound care, eye drops, catheter care and medication management, as well as care for people with diabetes, and palliative needs.
Health treatment, advice and support is provided in our client's own homes. Within Christchurch city, there is the security of nursing support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Rural areas have access to telephone support from a district nurse.
If you need nursing care at home, accessing Nurse Maude's Community Nursing service is simple; your General Practitioner or hospital staff will contact the Central Coordination Centre with a referral.
Simply ask for Nurse Maude as your preferred provider. Services are provided free to eligible New Zealand Residents. Prearranged support is available for people who don't meet residency requirements. Please contact Nurse Maude directly for information about this.
Community Nursing can also provide information about additional Nurse Maude services and products.
