Volunteering
There would be few, if any, parts of Nurse Maude that have not benefited from
more than 100 volunteers who, collectively, donate thousands of hours of their
time to Nurse Maude each and every year.
Their philosophy is to enhance the quality of patient care and augment
services, and, in doing so, they are an integral part of Nurse Maude's
operation.
Volunteers can be found across the organisation, including the Bereavement
Service,
Biography Service, doing clerical tasks, the Complementary Therapy Programme,
Diversional Therapy, Education Services, Family Support, Fundraising, in the
hair salon, Hospice, Hospital, Laundry, Library, doing the flowers and helping
maintain the gardens, on the reception desk at the hospital, at the Hospice
Remembrance Services and creating and running special events to benefit Nurse
Maude and its clients.
Volunteer Services could always use a hand (and a heart) so anyone who wants
to work with a great team of people, and lead the way in community care, should
contact Volunteer Services on 375-4230 or email
volunteers@nursemaude.org.nz
and talk to the Co-ordinator of Volunteers.
Volunteers must be aged 14 years and over, and those under the age of 18 must
have parental consent. All Nurse Maude Volunteers receive training and a
supportive environment in which to work.
