loto n belle kitchen 2Keeping people out of hospital and residential care and in their own homes and community wherever possible was the promise made by Nurse Maude when she started New Zealand’s first district nursing and home care service in 1896. Today that promise is at the heart of our homecare services across the Nelson and Marlborough region, providing domestic assistance and personal care with skill and compassion.

Nothing beats local knowledge and community connections when they’re partnered with Nurse Maude’s experience in providing care, so working with general practice teams, community health providers and your family is central to our approach. By working together, with the leadership of the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board, we can make sure the care you are getting is right for you.

All our funding goes directly into providing and supporting the care you need, whether that be help with the cooking, cleaning or shopping or personal care such as dressing, bathing and toileting or a combination of both.

When you need help in your home talk to your doctor who can arrange for you to be referred for homecare or give us a call on (03) 375 4200 or 0800 888 018 to discuss what you need and the best way to arrange that.

We then come out and assess your situation and recommend the homecare you need. We also welcome the opportunity to have a member of your family or a friend there when we do so.

Once we’ve established what you need you’ll be visited by one of our Support Workers on a regular basis to make sure you have the help you need to continue living as independently as possible in your own home.

When you’re referred for Homecare you’ll be assessed by aged care services or disability support for public funding, so there may be no cost to you at all.

You also have the option to pay privately.
