Speciality Clinics & Services
Stomal Therapy
stomal@nursemaude.org.nzInformation and support are available if you have or are expecting to have a stoma. Stomal therapy supports you to live with a stoma independently, comfortably and with dignity.
Specialist Wound Clinic
woundclinic@nursemaude.org.nzNurses assess, manage and advise on chronic, complex wounds and leg ulcers in our specialist wound care clinics. They also provide care plans, follow-up and prevention programmes such as compression hosiery. A dietitian is available if required.
Continence Service
continence@nursemaude.org.nzWe provide support, assessment, treatment and education for anyone aged 4-18 who have a complex medical issue, including those with an Autism or ADHD diagnosis.
Infusion Services
infusion@nursemaude.org.nzThe infusion service provides support to patients requiring intravenous access to infusions such as antibiotic therapy and Aclasta.
Diabetes Service
diabetes@nursemaude.org.nzProviding support and information to GP’s for managing people with Type2 diabetes in the community, including assistance with the start of insulin or changes in medication. The service provides access to specialist nurses and a dietitian. Appointments are by arrangement in partnership with your GP.
Supply Department
supply@nursemaude.org.nzWe provide an efficient and professional service supplying clients with the stomal, continence and enteral feeding products prescribed by Nurse Maude. We also supply Homecare and District Nursing, the Care Home, Hospice and Specialty Clinics with all their product needs.
Clients can collect products from the Supply Department at 21 Hawdon Street, Sydenham, we’re open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm, and there’s no need to call in advance. It helps if you bring in your prescription card and if someone else is collecting on your behalf, they will need to know your name and NHI number. There is no charge for the products on your prescription.
If you can’t collect your products, or you prefer to have them delivered, this costs between $6.50 to $12.50 depending on your address. Please email supply@nursemaude.org.nz or call 03 375 4297 to arrange delivery.
If you’ve accumulated more than you need you can order less next time, and product no longer needed can be returned if unopened. Please contact us to arrange collection.
The Supply Department is like your local pharmacy, we can only provide what you have been prescribed. If you would like to make changes to your product type or quantity or need any support, please contact the Continence or Stomal team that provided your prescription.
School Based Nursing
Contact usThe School Based Nurse Team at Nurse Maude provide support and connection for rangatahi, removing barriers to health services and health professionals in 17 secondary schools, including, kura kaupapa Māori, alternative education facilities and young parent units throughout Canterbury. Our support includes engaging with rangatahi on an individual level regarding all aspects of health by providing a safe and non-judgemental place for our young people to feel heard and ask questions. We advocate for rangatahi and whānau, and liaise with other primary health care agencies, engage in evidence-based health promotion and health education. We are guided by the varying and unique needs of each school and strive to work collaboratively with our school and whānau where we are able.

Stomal Therapy
Information and support are available if you have or are expecting to have a stoma. Stomal therapy supports you to live with a stoma independently, comfortably and with dignity.
The comprehensive service includes education prior to surgery, visits (in hospital and at home after discharge), arranging ostomy equipment, appliances and/or stomal supplies, clinics
for regular checks and assessments, access to a dietitian and referral to other health professionals and agencies.
Specialist Wound Clinic

We also provide consultation and advice to GP’s, community and practice nurses, rest homes and private hospitals.
Continence Service
We provide support, assessment, treatment and education for anyone aged 4-18 who have a complex medical issue, including those with an Autism or ADHD diagnosis.
Continence management is provided to those 18 years and over who have complex and chronic health conditions that lead to daily urinary and bowel incontinence.
Infusion Services
The infusion service provides support to patients requiring intravenous access to infusions such as antibiotic therapy and Aclasta.
Services are provided at our Merivale-based clinic, but alternative arrangements can be made if required.
Diabetes Service
Our Community Diabetes Team is here to support people in leading a fulfilling life with Type 2 diabetes and to help connect care between primary and secondary services.
Our team is made up of experienced diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialists and a Community Diabetes Dietitian who work within the Christchurch community and surrounding rural areas including Darfield, Akaroa, Cheviot, Hanmer, and as far afield as Kaikoura.
We’re a dedicated group, committed to making a positive difference in the lives of people with diabetes. Between us, we bring extensive clinical experience and hold postgraduate qualifications in our fields.
Here’s how we can help:
General Public
- One-on-one consultations to review diabetes management, provide education, support, and help with treatment plans.
- Group education sessions for people newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, to build knowledge and confidence.
- Support and training with starting insulin therapy, including help with initiation and titration.
- Dietitian assessments and tailored nutrition advice to support better health outcomes.
Accessing the service: Ask your GP or Practice Nurse for a Referral to the Nurse Maude Community Diabetes Service.
Health professionals
- Support, training and mentoring for health care professionals, including practice nurses, GPs, ARA, community groups and supported living/rest homes, to help integrate the national diabetes standards into your everyday care.
- Ongoing liaison, mentoring, and diabetes education for other health professionals and community groups.
- The team facilitate education sessions for Practice Nurses who have a special interest in supporting diabetes management and care.

Our role allows for providing and access to appropriate contraceptive advice and various contraception, or confidential support in accessing further contraceptive service providers as required. We are able to support rangatahi with mental wellbeing support and link in with other mental health services, school guidance teams as appropriate, as well as engaging local GP, physiotherapy, social agencies amongst other services.
Our skills are wide ranging and varied, with our primary goal of connecting our rangatahi and whānau to health services, by allowing our young people to feel heard, safe and important, and removing barriers to health care.
